NewTek Qualifies Medea's VideoRaid RTR/RTRX Disk Arrays for Use with Video Toaster (2) Page 1 of 1 "The VideoRaid RTR is sexy looking, but the most alluring part of it is knowing that data integrity is no longer an issue," said Paul Lara, Video Toaster (2) product manager for NewTek. "There's enough room to store several projects, and it's a joy to know that they are all safe from eventual drive failure." [an error occurred while processing this directive] Medea's VideoRaid RTR and VideoRaid RTRX are designed for DCC applications such as 2D/3D animation, compositing, special effects, game development and non-linear video editing (NLE). The RTR family of disk arrays features a high-performance Ultra160 SCSI interface that enables the desktop models to sustain a data transfer rate of up to 130 MB/second. The dual-channel, rack mountable models sustain more than 200 MB/second -- more than enough performance to support 10-bit, 1080i HD capture and playback. "VideoRaid RTR not only offers Toaster (2) incredible performance, but piece of mind, as VideoRaid RTR will protect their valuable content should a disk drive failure occur within the unit," said Roger Mabon, vice president of channel marketing at Medea. "Like the Toaster (2), VideoRaid RTR offers unprecedented price/performance." In addition to offering industry-leading performance, Medea's RTR/RTRX disk arrays also provide RAID data protection. In the unlikely event of a disk drive failure, the systems will continue to operate with no loss of data and no degradation in data transfer rate. The ability to operate at full performance with a "downed drive" enables the user to complete work in real-time environments without requiring immediate drive replacement. Additional features of VideoRaid RTR/RTRX disk arrays include: Pricing and Availability The 5-drive VideoRaid RTR is available in 160 GB, 320 GB and 480 GB capacities with list prices starting at $3,899.
