![]() 2 ½ D Page 3 of 3 With all of the layers positioned, it is time to animate them. All of the layers need to move the same distance over the same amount of time. This will give the illusion that the layer closer to the viewer is moving faster, while the layers further back are moving slower or not at all.[an error occurred while processing this directive]At the beginning of the Timeline create a position keyframe for each of the layers with the following values. Grass 946, 122 Cliff 654, 200 Clouds 510, 264 Move to 6 seconds in the Timeline and reposition the layers to the following X-axis position: Grass -230 Cliff 72 Clouds 66 Keep the Y-axis values the same. Even though the Cliff and Clouds layers were not scaled, a slight position change in the clouds will give the illusion that there is some movement. When you are finished, make a RAM preview and view the results.
Use this technique anytime you need to take a 2D image and give it more depth. Another example of this technique might be to create depth of field. For example you have a photograph of two people side by side. Mask one person from the background. Animate the scale of this person increasing, while animating the scale of the background layer so it gets smaller. At the same time you could apply a Gaussian Blur to the background layer and animate it in proportion to the scale. This gives the illusion that the foreground subject is coming closer and the focus is remaining on him/her while the other subject is receding away.
