Now you may be asking yourself, “How did you get the layer to animate along a path and wiggle at the same time?” Well dear reader it is quite simple. Create a motion path for the layer using normal keyframe animation, and then apply the expression to the property. ![]() Can you use wiggle to create some chaotic text? The short answer is “No, with a but..”, the long answer is “Yes, and then some…”. As far as the short answer goes, while you can apply the wiggle expression to the position or tracking properties for the Basic Text effect, you are not going to get the results you desire.
To get each letter to move on its own, you will need to use Path Text, and that is the long answer.
So how do you do this? Once you apply the Path Text effect to your layer and create your text, twirl down the advanced settings and you will see a sub setting called Jitter. Twirl this down and you will find all the controls needed to wiggle/jitter each individual letter in your text. ![]() Source: Digital Media Online, Inc.
