![]() DMN Interview: Premiere Pro Premieres (Parts 1, 2 and 3 combined) Page 9 of 9 DMN: What's up with Pinnacle? Now they're competing with you, too. Et tu, Brute? How many of these guys are going to compete with you? They have Edition 5, and now, I was talking with Ajay [Chopra, Pinnacle's founder] three months ago, and he said "We're de-emphasizing Pro-One." That was a good revenue stream for you, wasn't it? Townhill: I believe that they actually made an announcement this week that they officially declined to support Premiere Pro. DMN: I knew it. And they knew Premiere Pro was coming and then they said they're "de-emphasizing" it. That's a stab in the back, isn't it? Well, again, it's business. It's a competitive world. Townhill: It's business. I can't blame them for the decisions they made. DMN: They have a good application, too. Townhill: It doesn't seem to be too bad, yes. I personally… DMN: Hate it? Townhill: Well, I wouldn't say hate it, but… DMN: You're not going to be talking about wonderful that is, I'm sure. Townhill: I think the interface is a little quirky. Townhill: If you think about it, really, this is the first time they've actually released it. It's taken a very long time. But, you know, business is business. Competition is also healthy. DMN: There are a lot of different companies competing with each other. That can only be good for the users. Townhill: It continues to push the technological boundaries. I view it as a positive thing. I also think that we're going to win. DMN: May the best company win. Townhill: May the best company win, and may that company be Adobe.
