edit* V5.0 Delivers on Broad Range of Customer-Driven Needs for Creative    Editing and Video Finishing for Postproduction in Broadcast and Digital Content Creation Markets

SAN FRANCISCO -- Discreet, a division of Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK), announced the worldwide availablity of version 5.0 of edit*, the latest version of its award-winning Windows NT editing system. Designed to address today's rapidly changing editorial and postproduction environments, edit* v5.0 software is a powerful, well-balanced, creative editorial and finishing solution for a broad range of markets.

edit* is now the preferred solution for a far broader range of editorial projects, including those comprising the bulk of postproduction:  long- and short-form editing, commercial spots, music videos, show opens, broadcast news and programming, independent production, corporate communications, and games and interactive projects.

The new version of edit* provides a potent response to customers' feedback and anticipates their growing finishing and editorial requirements with expanded audio and video finishing toolsets capable of supporting dual-stream video with concurrent real-time digital effects and graphics in uncompressed image quality. edit* v5.0 functionality is also vastly expanded with multicam support for creative editorial, real-time 3D DVE support, Apple QuickTime 3.0 for cross-platform interchange and true workgroup editing using Number One GM's Jobnet software.

edit* v5.0 provides enhanced integration with Discreet's vector-based paint animation program and 3D visual effects applications, paint* and effect*, creating a powerful, extended-graphics production environment for the most-demanding editorial and effects work.

"In segments of the market characterized by rapid change Discreet has leveraged its award-winning technology to produce a powerful NT solution," said Jim Guerard, vice president of marketing and product management for Discreet. "With edit* v5.0 Discreet has established a new level of editorial and video finishing that maximizes the performance of a single workstation or a networked workgroup all at affordable prices."
