New Upgrade Brings Improved Batch Capture, Expanded Hardware Support

Bethesda, Maryland – in-sync corporation announced the release of in-sync Speed Razor Mach 4.7, a new upgrade to its Speed Razor video editing and compositing software on Windows NT.

A free upgrade for existing Speed Razor users on version 4.0 or later, Speed Razor 4.7 delivers improved batch capture and video deck support, expanded hardware support for the FAST DV Master Pro, the new Matrox DigiSuite DTV, and DEC Alpha processors. This new update follows shortly after the release of the well-received Speed Razor 4.5 upgrade earlier this year.

“In Speed Razor 4.7 we have made significant improvements in batch capture and print to tape functionality in response to user feedback. These are now more fluid, faster and verifiably frame accurate, resulting in a reduction in overall capture time when compared to Speed Razor 4.5 or earlier. This particularly benefits long form editors and animators who need to safely print sequences to existing material on videotape,” said Jamie Carr, president of in-sync corporation.

Additional improvements in batch capture include

  • new shortcut keys and menu options. Editors have the option of accessing commands through buttons, menu items, and shortcut keys.
  • Ability to edit and print the batch capture list.
  • Default settings for video decks, deck presets, and expanded deck support.
  • Support for timecode embedded files captured from Matrox DigiSuite, DigiSuite LE, DigiSuite DTV, and Pinnacle Systems ReelTime and ReelTime NITRO.
  • Support for up to 256 character notes in batch capture.
  • API support for third parties to write device control for other types of video decks in addition to RS 422 – including DV, RS 232, and others.
  • Because timecode is now stored in the file, editors may load the low resolution offline file into the Library, and have this timecode stored as a backup to the batch capture list.
  • Speed Razor 4.7 Client also reads this timecode in the file, allowing full sharing among S, RT, and Client versions.
  • Among its top benefits, Speed Razor 4.7 adds batch capture and print to tape to support for DV device control through the IEEE 1394 / i.LINK interface.
  • New deck preset settings and easily interchangeable deck support save time and let you switch decks from within Speed Razor.

In addition, a number of issues in Speed Razor 4.5 have been fixed, resulting in enhanced program stability and responsiveness:

  • Expanded Hardware Support New and expanded hardware support make Speed Razor 4.7 the video editing choice on the DV and realtime platforms.
  • Updated support for the FAST DV Master Pro, combined with solid new V2.0 DV Master drivers, gives DV editors the most powerful editing and compositing software package available.
  • Pinnacle Systems ReelTime and ReelTime NITRO boards and Matrox DigiSuite DTV will also be supported upon their release.

With software realtime capabilities for previewing composites, smart rendering for video effects areas on the timeline, and a fully multi-threaded interface, Speed Razor 4.7 on the Alpha platform promises a dramatically fast solution for animators and other professionals in need of effects-heavy editing.

Speed Razor is fully multi-threaded, nonlinear video editing and compositing software that delivers full screen D1 uncompressed quality video, fully field rendered NTSC or PAL. It features unlimited video and audio layers, and realtime audio mixing for up to 20 audio layers with DAT quality output. It is multi-format deck compliant for frame accurate batch capture and print to tape. Developed on in-sync's k-sync standard for hardware and software communication, Speed Razor delivers true 32-bit performance on Windows NT.
