With Media
100 i, web designers can create streaming media content with which viewers
can directly interact. Media 100 i incorporates sophisticated interactive
streaming media technology - called EventStream technology -- that enables
web designers to embed interactive, multidimensional instructions directly
into streaming media programs to trigger highly visual, content-rich
capabilities, including graphics, Flash animations and Java applications
- all synchronized with the streaming video on the web site. Using Media
100 i, web designers can define hot spots, URL flips and chapter marks,
allowing viewers to interact with streaming media programs by clicking
on objects to gather information, launch related web sites from the
video and even purchase items in the streaming video.
"Media 100 i represents the most significant, innovative and aggressive streaming media product
initiative for the Company to date," said John Molinari,
chief executive officer of Media 100. "Media 100 is empowering professional
web designers to change the Internet experience for millions of people.
By bringing the interactive capabilities of the Internet to life, Media
100 i is unlocking infinite opportunities for Web developers - from
advertising to e-commerce to entertainment - we've created the future
of web site design, and it's all about streaming media."
"Media 100 has created a new paradigm for web site development -
we've developed an interactive streaming media work flow that will fundamentally
change how web sites are designed," said Caren Anhder, product
line manager for Media 100 i. "Media 100 i introduces a whole new
approach to designing for the Web - interactive, multidimensional streaming
media production - which has significant implications for web designers
creating dynamic streaming media programming for online advertising,
e-commerce and entertainment. With Media 100 i, viewers can click on
Tom Cruise's sunglasses and buy them online - that's the Internet revolution
we're enabling."
Interactive Streaming Production
Media 100 i is the only solution on the market that provides a streaming
media development environment for interactive design. With Media 100
i as the `hub' of the streaming media development environment, users
can capture, edit, create effects, author encode and publish streaming
media content within one system. Media 100 i also enables customers
to work in collaborative group environments, typical of large, high
volume Internet broadcasting sites.
As part of the interactive streaming media workflow, users can create
hot spots - an active area of the video that viewers can click on to
trigger other actions, such as skipping to another part of the video
or retrieving relevant data from other sites on the web -- all while
viewing the video. Triggered events that retrieve graphics and text
relevant to the streaming video can all be programmed during the editing
process. This capability is unique to Media 100 i and, for the first
time, enables users to create video streams that control other media
elements on the site, including Flash animation, HTML, PowerPoint slides,
animated GIFs and other videos. This capability adds an element of design
never before available to Web site developers.
Redefining the Streaming Media Workflow
Media 100 i is a unique streaming media solution, enabling customers
to capture, edit, author, encode and publish video to the Internet within
one seamless, tightly integrated streaming media workflow. Unlike more
traditional approaches to content creation for the Internet, Media 100
i creates a new workflow paradigm for Internet broadcasters and web
designers within a single solution. This approach is a shift away from
traditional linear production of stagnant, one-way video to a dynamic
production process that enables creation of interactive, multi-dimensional
streaming media. Media 100 has developed sophisticated technology to
support interactive streaming production throughout all aspects of the
streaming media workflow.

100 iFX Engine: Powerful Layerings and DVEs
With
Media 100 i, Media 100 also announced the addition of major new content
creation capabilities. The Media 100 iFX engine - a highly-unique graphics
and layering capability -- enables users to create video and image layering,
compositing and digital video effects (DVE). This unique implementation
allows a video clip to be created in the video tracks that is actually
a "container" for the composited layers defined in Boris FX or Boris
RED. The composite clip can be saved in bins or used in other programs
and projects. The iFX engine includes the unique ability of Media 100
users to access Media 100 bins, with trimmed media from directly within
Boris FX or Boris RED. No other streaming solution has this level of
integration with these industry-leading Boris applications. This capability
is the result of a strategic co-development relationship with Artel
Software.
