QuickTime Native Editing and Effects System for Uncompressed Standard Definition; HD Available in November

Pinnacle CinewaveMOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (October 17, 2000) -- Pinnacle Systems, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of CinéWave, an uncompressed standard-definition (SD) video system available for Apple's Power Mac G4. The uncompressed high-definition (HD) version of CinéWave will be available in November.

Based on TARGA architecture, CinéWave delivers uncompressed video editing and effects in both RGB and YUV formats. The TARGA Ciné engine combined with a full suite of video authoring tools, including Apple's Final Cut Pro, Commotion Pro and Hollywood FX Silver, enables high quality uncompressed digital video editing.

CinéWave includes Commotion Pro 3.0, Hollywood FX Silver, a full version of Apple's Final Cut Pro 1.2.5 and the TARGA Ciné engine as well as a Pro Analog Break-Out-Box. The TARGA Ciné engine provides numerous editing capabilities for acquisition, post-production, and delivery in any format, including: DV, DigiBeta, uncompressed 601, PAL, NTSC, 1080i, 1080p, 720p, 4:3, 16:9, and Web. There are also two Digital Tether ports for connecting to a family of breakout boxes for flexible I/O options.  CinéWave is available from Pinnacle Systems' dealers worldwide for $7495.

Mac Turnkey Systems
Complete systems including a Power Mac G4, Final Cut Pro and the Pinnacle TARGA Cine are available through The Apple Store (http://www.apple.com/). Base configurations start at US$9,999. An optional digital interface, the Pro Digital breakout box, is available for an additional US$999.

The uncompressed SD video editing system provides video acquisition in all major standard-definition formats (DV, composite, component and D1) and features:

  • Mac G4 with a 400MHz PowerPC G4 processor, 256MB SDRAM, a DVD-ROM drive, the ATI Rage 128 Pro Graphics card, a 20GB ATA hard drive, ATTO UL3D dual-channel Ultra 160 SCSI (PCI card), 2x 36GB Ultra 160 SCSI drives for media storage and SoftRAID SCSI array formatting software (additional build-to-order options listed below);
  • 17-inch (16-inch viewable) Apple Studio Display featuring a Natural Flat Diamondtron CRT (additional flat-panel display options listed below);
  • Apple Final Cut Pro 1.2.5, a video editing software package offering compositing tools and unlimited video and audio layers;
  • The TARGA Cine capture/export PCI engine delivering uncompressed SD video acquisition, creation and distribution, simultaneous output of SD video, and two Digital Tether ports for connecting to a family of breakout boxes for I/O flexibility with analog, digital and high-definition video (Pinnacle Systems' Pro Analog breakout box is included).
