Thunder Perfect Mind Edited by Cut + Run?s Dayn Williams Jordan Scott & Ridley Scott production to launch Prada?s new fragrance (March 31, 2005)

To launch Prada?s new fragrance, Miuccia Prada asked Ridley Scott and Jordan Scott to co-direct on the project. In response to Miuccia Prada?s desire to portray the complexities of being a woman, Jordan presented Prada with a poem ?Thunder Perfect Mind? from the First century that deals with the endless aspects of the female psyche.

The film was shot in Berlin and stars Daria Werbowy as the woman who appears in many guises; the wife, the virgin, the mother, and the daughter.

Jordan Scott reflected on the filming in Berlin, ?It was an extraordinary experience to collaborate with two of the ultimate creative minds in their fields, and of course when one of them is your dad it makes it all the more special.?

Ridley Scott commented on the experience, ?I seemed to be surrounded by strong women... I just did as I was told...this project is an essay on women by women.?

Editor Dayn Williams notes: ?The idea was to create a visually striking short film, imbued with mystery and beauty, strength and vulnerability, that would stand out in the advertising marketplace while transcending the typical product-driven spot. Miuccia Prada asked Jordan and Ridley Scott to create a film that reflected the complex and diverse nature that is Prada woman. Jordan found the Gnostic poem [written around 100 AD in Coptic and found in Egypt in 1945], which inspired the entire script.?

?Jordan and I worked very closely together and I really enjoy our collaboration,? adds Williams. ?For the project, I cut all of the music together out of four freeform jazz tracks, which were supplied in split tracks of every single instrument and roughly scored to a 9.5 min selects roll, choosing when and where each instrument was playing. I then edited the picture to this cut music for the best possible sync to make ?the images dance? as Jordan said. Having the premiere at the Berlin Film Festival was very exciting and we look forward to more screenings.?

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
