Matrox Parhelia APVe Graphics Card Powerful new card proves that (up to) four heads are better than one

Perhaps the most impressive use of the Parhelia APVe is with the Matrox Axio or RT.x series of video editing hardware, where you can connect two monitors to the Parhelia card, one to the capture card?s video output, and then in addition you can connect an HDTV monitor, totaling four monitors. There's nothing quite like having a gigantic desktop on which to work, especially when dealing with large timelines and multiple windows that you really do need to have opened all at once.

Another advantage you?ll enjoy with this graphics card is its extraordinary video output and outstanding speed, with its 128 MB of RAM and its PCI Express x16 compatibility. On our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment here at the Midwest Test Facility, we noticed extraordinary resolution and lightning-fast refresh rates on all the monitors we had hooked up to the Parhelia APVe. We also noticed that the display drivers were stable and we liked the Matrox ?Power Desk HF? control software included in the package.

The Matrox APVe graphics card is powerful and versatile, and does what it claims to do. If you're looking to have a wall of monitors with which to do your editing or graphics work, or you're looking to cross that bridge to HD or HDV editing, this card will serve you well. Highly recommended. 9.5 of 10 stars.

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
